“RUN” is a nine-minute experimental film that explores running as both physical action and metaphor. Through a collage of original and found footage - featuring scenes of fear, athleticism, cartoons, and the artist running through the city - the film intertwines themes of escape and pursuit. The soundtrack blends sports commentary, songs (like Babyxsosa’s “Running”), and Nike ads. Midway through the film, a poem appears on screen, revealing the artist’s journey: “I ran to this damned city, in seek of a better life...” With footsteps echoing, the film shifts focus from the act of running to the deeper symbolisms of both escape and pursuit, ultimately highlighting the journey towards the unknown.
The multi-screen format of “RUN” amplifies the film’s impact by creating a fragmented, immersive experience. With sections of the film playing in unison and others offering contrasting footage across screens, viewers are compelled to navigate multiple narratives simultaneously. This structure heightens the tension between escape and pursuit, mirroring the psychological and physical fragmentation of the journey.
